Sallay in the book Sri Lanka Currency of Recent Times 1938-1985 published by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka states that official records indicate that only 12 pre-war 1000 Rupees notes of all dates from 1899-1934 remain outstanding after they were demonetized and recalled in 1946. The reduced size 1000 Rupees were first dated 1 July 1929. These bear serial nos. F/2 10001 to F/2 60000. This is thus the first note of this type and date. Excessively rare and of the highest importance.
