Tay Tatt Cheng’s collection of rare proofs of the Straits Settlements, Malaya and Malaya & British Borneo was
painstakingly put together over a period of more than 20 years since the early 1980s. It includes a number of
proof only issues, and many of the coins were formerly from the R.J. Ford Collection.
Part 1 of the collection was sold by Mavin on 31 March 2006. Part 2 is now offered for sale in Mavin Auction 12.
It consists of the remaining 36 Straits Settlements, Malaya and Malaya & British Borneo proofs and specimens,
including an 1845WW Proof Quarter Cent, an 1890 Proof Quarter Cent, an 1873 10 Cents struck in copper, an 1883H
Proof 10 Cents, a 1900H Proof 50 Cents, an unusual 1904B Raised B Proof Dollar, a 1925 Restrike Proof Dollar, a
1926 Proof Dollar, and many Victoria copper and silver proofs.
