Notes to Absentee Bidders

We regret that for security reasons, all commission bids from absentee bidders must be written and signed. We will accept absentee bids by email only from established clients.

Please send in your bids early. Between similar bids, the first received will get priority. Bids received less than 24 hours before the auction may not be entered.

Dealer/Bank references may be requested from bidders unknown to Mavin. These should be submitted in good time before the auction.

Payment may be made by checks, bank drafts or money orders drawn on a Singapore bank, or by direct bank transfer.

Checking Bidding Status Online

Mavin allows you to see the bidding status of all lots on our website before the start of floor bidding. The bidding status will be updated regularly once the catalogue is on the web. For mail bidders, we will inform you of the bidder or "paddle" number assigned to you upon request if you include your e-mail address on the bid form. Your paddle number will not be divulged to anybody else. You will therefore be able to check if your bids are below the reserve (it will simply appear) or if another mail bidder has outbid you. Paddle numbers will only appear in the case of tied bids to indicate whose bid takes precedence. So, if you find you have been outbid, you still have a chance to fax in further bids. Updating of the bid status will stop 24 hours before the auction, so as to minimize "sniping".

Please provide an email address so that we can email to you your bidder number which will enable you to check the status of your bids online.

Bidding Increments

The bidding increments are expected to be as follows. However, the auctioneer has absolute
discretion to vary the increments. Odd bids that do not follow the bidding increments will
usually be rounded down, but the auctioneer has absolute discretion to accept the odd bid.
If any odd bid is not rounded down, the auctioneer will usually accept a bid that will take
the bidding to the next increment. For example, if an odd bid of $1,050 is accepted,
the auctioneer will usually accept a further bid of $50 that will take the bidding up to $1,100.
